My Black History Month Style Salute
We have a lot to celebrate about. From 1st Jan 1863 Emancipation Proclamation, the voting rights of 1965, having a first Black President in 2008, Oprah being greatest black American in History (and at one point 1st black billionaire) and personally for me, the days my 3 nieces were born . Add this to the so many other wonderful, pioneering, global achievements over the centuries til today, that we now have a plethora of amazing talent from music, art, design, technology, science, business and sport, (you name it) all already visible or awaiting their time to shine.
Since staring in fashion, I have patiently watched small doors start to open. For the lucky few in very big ways. It is still an industry that predominately white orientated, but for the beauties who have broken through they have done it in a way that many of us will never forget and most have become household names.
But for this post I am going to celebrate STYLE from various fields. I could post hundreds as there are so many that I admire, but have whittled it down to just a small selection. If you want more go to B IN THE MAKING Facebook page or if you want your mind blown check out B IN THE MAKING tumblr (here I go insane!)
